We’re having an Open Day

Yes you heard right, Urban Hax is having an open day at our new Makerspace, The Stables, Walsall. After a long and hard slog of getting the building fit for purpose, the team have been working tooth and nail in order to install new central heating systems, high speed WiFi, multiple electrical points as well as fighting the war against spiders. But we are finally there and we are ready and raring to get going.

Pop on down to see the space in all it's glory on Thursday 27th October between 2pm & 8pm.

Drinks and nibbles will be served and there's enough conversation to be had by all.

We’ve Moved

Big news everyone!!! We've moved! Urban Hax CIC is now in Walsall in a great Grade 2 listed building with a mixture of digital and dirty space for all your maker needs. We can now be found at : The Stables, Victoria Corn Mills, Long Acre Street, Walsall. This new space gives us and our members the chance to broaden our horizons with our design thinking and allow us to mix clean digital technologies with traditional 'dirty making'.

Bar build for the International Dance Festival Birmingham 9/5/2016

Our good friends at Dance Exchange recently commissioned us to build a bespoke bar to be put in place at the municipal bank on Broad Street, Birmingham. The bar will form part of an installation and events space for the International Dance festival, which will be taking place across the city from the 1st - 22nd May. Although a huge undertaking in just under two weeks, our team worked tirelessly throughout the night to get the bar designed, constructed and finished on time and in place for the events opening on Monday 2nd May. Another great Hack by the Urban Hax team, and a big thanks to Digital Native Academy for all their help with the design and build.

The Winners of the Urban Hax CIC hacker challenge @BCU Hackathon

Urban Hax recently sponsored the Birmingham City University 24hr Hackathon at the Birmingham School of computing. The Hackathon saw teams of students from various areas of computing studies, compete over 24hrs to produce a project that made the best use of digital hardware to solve a daily problem. This years theme was 'Take a Leap' in which students were encouraged to use outside thinking in order to mix disciplines of programming, hardware and design skills. Well done to all the teams that took part, we can't wait to see what you produce next year!
